Financing of Valbus Electric Buses in Val d’Isère
25 March 2025

Context
Val d’Isère, an internationally renowned ski resort, is firmly committed to the energy transition. One of its major challenges is to decarbonize public transport while maintaining a reliable service capable of withstanding the extreme conditions of high-altitude mountain environments (intense cold, high elevation, steep gradients).
With this in mind, VALBUS, a subsidiary of Val d’Isère Téléphériques and the Compagnie des Alpes group, has launched an ambitious plan to convert its fleet to 100% electric by 2027. Neot Green Mobility is supporting this initiative by financing the batteries of these new-generation buses, thereby ensuring clean and efficient mobility in the heart of the Alps.
The Challenges
-
Electrifying public transport in mountain environments
High altitude and sub-zero temperatures pose specific challenges for electromobility. Vehicles must guarantee sufficient range and optimal reliability under all conditions.
-
Accelerating the decarbonization of resort shuttles
VALBUS aims to operate a 100% electric fleet by 2027, as part of a broader strategy to reduce CO₂ emissions by 92% by 2030 across the entire Val d’Isère Téléphériques vehicle fleet (buses, snow groomers, light vehicles, etc.).
Our Solution
-
Financing onboard energy
Neot Green Mobility structured the financing of the batteries for 10 electric buses operated by VALBUS. Paired with IVECO buses, these batteries provide up to 300 km of range, covering all daily needs without intermediate charging.
-
A gradual, well-managed transition
Fleet electrification is being rolled out in phases, ensuring a smooth integration of new vehicles and continuous adaptation to passenger needs.
Results & Impact
-
10 electric buses equipped with batteries financed by Neot Green Mobility.
-
100% electric fleet by 2027, offering clean and quiet transport for skiers and residents.
-
92% reduction in CO₂ emissions by 2030, contributing to Val d’Isère’s environmental commitments.
-
Demonstrated reliability of electric buses in extreme conditions, paving the way for similar projects in other mountain resorts.
Why Neot?
As a pioneer in zero-emission mobility financing, Neot Green Mobility supports local authorities and transport operators in their energy transition across Europe by funding solutions tailored to the specific needs of each territory.
Philippe Ringenbach, President of Neot Green Mobility: “This project perfectly illustrates the ability of electric technologies to meet the demands of public transport, even in mountain environments. We are proud to support VALBUS and Val d’Isère in this ambitious transformation towards 100% clean mobility.”
